Random WTF Lyrics

Random WTF Lyrics #59

Welcome to Random WTF Lyrics, where I comment on five random lyrics from five random songs. Let’s get started.

All These Things That I’ve Done-The Killers

I got soul, but I'm not a soldier

I got soul, but I’m not a soldier? Whaaaaaaat? Hold on. Let me go on Genius and see what they say about this line.

Brandon Flowers belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), also known as the Mormon church. The church has young men go out for two years and preach the gospel for a mission. In songs these Mormon Missionaries are sometimes referred to as the Lord’s soldiers. Flowers never went on his mission, so he is saying that he believes in the church’s teachings and has “soul” but he isn’t a “soldier”.

Like any LDS boy, he would have been expected to serve a mission, with very harsh social consequences for not going (like stigma, family pressure and shunning, no one would want to date him, etc.) He’s coming to realize that even though he’s a good person, he’s just not cut out to be a soldier on the front lines like his peers. He’s still got soul, but he’s realizing he’s been called to other work.

– Genius

Okay, so it’s a religious thing. It’s still a corny ass line, but it’s an explanation.

Mama Mia-Lil Wayne

Tittyfuck your baby mama
She breastfeed your child while I do it
I looped it

They did all of that while the woman is breastfeeding the baby? AND they filmed it? That poor child. I feel like that should be illegal.

Sober Up-AJR ft Rivers Cuomo

My favorite color is you
You're vibrating out my frequency
My favorite color is you
You keep me young and that's how I wanna be
My favorite color is you
You're vibrating out my frequency
My favorite color is you
You keep me young and that's how I wanna be

Another example of AJR being talentless hacks as they give us this: my favorite color is you. Unless that person’s name is also a color, this line makes no sense. It’s like it was written by someone stoned out of their minds and considering this is from AJR, I wouldn’t count that out as a possibility.

Woman Is The Nigger Of The World-John Lennon

Oh, boy. This song.

Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is... think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it... do something about it

Okay, so I get the idea behind the song. It’s comparing the marginalization of women to that of black people and showing similarities between the two. But the problem here is how heavy-handed the message is and how John Lennon is way out of his league here. And, yes. A lot of this has to do with him using the N-word. Lennon said in interviews that he used the word to refer to any oppressed group. As well-intended as this song might be, using a derogatory word thrown against a group that’s been stolen from their own homes, enslaved, beaten, raped, lynched, and denied basic rights as citizens isn’t exactly a good idea.

Well, that was pretty heavy. Let’s end this by making fun of something stupid, shall we?

Death To Mumble Rap-GAWNE, Mac Lethal, Futuristic, & Crypt

Yeah, I know I’m late to the party with this one, but I had to chime in my two cents with this one. I previously said that being lyrical doesn’t automatically make a song good. Well, this song is Exhibit A for that statement. So we have four rappers who made a song declaring the death of mumble rap and…. well, Eminem recently said on a song that, “I’m watching my pupils get cornier.” This is the stereotypical “lyrical miracles” fast rapping where nothing is being said. How is this any better than the mumble rap that these guys hate? I’m not even a fan of mumble rap, but I understand its appeal. People like the sound, they like the vibes, that stuff. What does this song have? The only good verse is the second one, courtesy of Futuristic, who mentions the prevalence of drug use in popular music and how that’s killing people. That’s something at least. Outside of that, the rest of the lyrics suck ass.

This a warnin' shot, to every motherfuckin'
Little one-hit-wonder
Rap mumble brother
Crypt and I figured it'd pay the bundle
So we teamed up top, five dead or alive
We're bringin' the rain and them goin' insane
I'll be choppin' like a helicopter blade
Man the wolfs begun to, hunt the jungle
Stomach rumbles, lookin' for somethin', damn
Where the fuck's Lil Pump at? I'm kinda hungry
These kittys, better never come to my city
Come to the Windy you gon' get nothin' but animosity
Midwest monopolies, monstrosities
Rap god, I'ma leave the beat in poverty!
Hostility!
Drop a bomb on the enemy
Artillery, blowin' up your, auxiliary
Hit 'em with the intercontinental capabilities
Leavin' no stability
In the Middle East, Benghazi, Hillary, yeah
Will I be a kamikaze and kill a beat?
I figure that I'm doin' this
Straight, just shittin' tracks at mumble rap
Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang (Brrt!)
Shooting range, too much rage, who to slay?
Grippin' I, weaponize, all the rhymes, they demise
To the mumble gods when we hit 'em like it's MMA
Gucci Gucci Gucci Gucci Gucci gang
Murder everybody like a shooting rampage
Yeah, kill 'em all, Fentanyl, blow 'em up
Molotov, Mazel tov, death to mumble, I rule the game

They mention Lil Pump a lot, who technically isn’t even a mumble rapper and isn’t that relevant by the time this song was released. I bet that Lil Pump is looking at this like, “get off my dick.”

Oh, ya'll sell tickets like Marvel Movies?
Well I still hate it like Scorsese
Ya'll are just food from McDonald's
And I am a gourmet filet that's more tasty

Fuck out of here with this elitist bullcrap. You’re damn right, I’m feeling some type of way about this because I’m a fan of the Marvel movies. They’re not exactly high-art, but they’re good films.

I'm more crazy then a short lady
Tryna' give birth to 84 babies

84 babies? How is that humanly possible? Oh, but here’s a real gem from that song.

Just because you're rapping fast,
Doesn't mean that you're sayin' something
Ya'll muhfuckers rap so damn slow that
Somehow you're literally sayin' nothin'
Just because you can rap fast, doesn't mean that you can rap good
Well, just because you can rap at all,
Doesn't mean that your muthafuckin' ass should

Oh, the irony. Motherfucker, have you listened to your own song? You said nothing. Gotta love how they unintentionally dissed themselves with, “just because you can rap fast, doesn’t mean you can rap good.” You want a good laugh? Look up the music video on YouTube and go to the comments section. It mostly consists of people just dunking on this song for its corniness. If this song was supposed to kill of mumble rap, then they have failed miserably. There’s much better lyrical rap out there, don’t waste your time with these Eminem wannabes.

And that was Random WTF Lyrics. No bad lyrics are safe.

Peace!!

  1. Here’s some good material for the next post:
    My Sharona by The Knack
“Never gonna stop give it up/such a dirty mind/I always get it up for a touch of the younger kind”
This gets more disturbing when you realize this is a 25 year old man singing about his crush on a 17 year old girl.

Here’s their follow up hit Good Girls Don’t which continues on the underage teenage sex fantasy
